     It finally felt like spring as Bob, Laurie, Kevin, and Alice paddled on the Shawsheen while Sharon led the portage. We enjoyed seeing a young Eagle, Blue Heron, Geese and many Turtles.

The “Eyes on Owls” program held at the Billerica Public Library on Thursday, April 25, 2019 was highly educational and entertaining.Naturalist Marcia Wilson and photographer Mark Wilson in sharing their passion for owls as well as the owls themselves with an audience of close to 50 people.  

  Following a short SRWA annual meeting, Alice and Bob Friedenson will share their insights and experiences of 20 years travelling in Costa Rica. Bob is a professional photographer who has taken thousands of images in Costa Rica. Alice is a clay sculpturist who created a clay program for children in Costa Rica. Bring your own canoe or kayak, paddles, life jackets, water: Put-in at 30 Bridge Street, Tewksbury (intersection of Bridge and Shawsheen) at 10:00 AM; work downstream to create navigable space at downed trees and snags. At the end of Grace Drive in Wilmington, you will see signage for town land. The kayak put-in is several feet into the woods. We will paddle upstream to what remains of the Middlesex Canal aqueducts to create navigable space in areas with downed trees. Wear appropriate clothing.
