Low flow means fewer paddles now, but more work parties (and many more miles of recreational trips later)
Offering paddles is one thing; stewardship for safe navigation is part of it. Real men (and tomboys) have acquired the taste for river work parties! A partnership of Boat Beautiful Billerica, Shawsheen River Watershed Association and Shawsheen Greenway worked in Andover, MA, from 1 Dale to the Vale Reservation island.
We observed traps for crayfish with a foot long eel (released the eel). The crayfish traps are part of a conservation project?
We collected trash, including two large tires (not photographed).
We secured safe navigation, with Ken Doran, Master of Chainsaws.
