Bridge Street Clean-up, Tewksbury: Saturday, August 24, 2019

Join the Shawsheen River Watershed Association for a paddle clean-up on Tewksbury’s ½ Way to Earth Day Clean-up. Meet at 9:00 at 2000 Whipple Street, Tewksbury (The Launch). We’ll drop kayaks/canoes, spot cars at either The Overlook (across from The Elks, South Street, Tewksbury) or 30 Bridge Street, and shuttle back to the put-in. We’ll paddle downstream to the take-outs looking primarily for human trash including fishing line and any small navigational obstacles. If you prefer land work next to the river, these sites can always use support: 2000 Whipple The Launch, The Overlook (across from The Elks on South Street), and the Knights of Columbus on Route 38. For river work, you provide your own kayak, canoe, PFDs, and paddles. Bring gloves, water, and insect repellant. Helpful tools if you have them: loppers, small handsaws, and grabbers. Bags provided and gloves provided for everyone! Dress appropriately for the weather and the water. Water levels have been low – expect portages and a little river walking. PLEASE CHECK THE SRWA WEBSITE AND FACEBOOK PAGE THE DAY BEFORE FOR ANY CHANGES!

Please note the SRWA policy: Bring your own kayak, canoe, PFDs, paddles and water/snack and dress appropriately. We welcome you to paddle with us, but you paddle at your own risk! Under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. No one younger than 6 years. All paddlers should be able to swim to participate. This paddle is sponsored by the Shawsheen River Watershed Association, a non-profit, all volunteer organization with a mission to protect, restore, and enjoy the Shawsheen River and its watershed.
