Ahoy Paddlers!

Tomorrow MarliesPaddles aka Boat Beautiful Billerica travels the meandering Shawsheen River in Andover.

For the 5th of seven planned 2020 SRWA paddles, the current is low, so we need not shuttle cars; the paddle starts and ends at the same access point. If you receive this email (blind cc’d), you have confirmed to participate. If for any reason you won’t be able to make it, kindly reply to this email.

Arrive between 9:30 and 9:45 AM at Abbot Bridge Drive, Andover (near Central Street). Put In #18 and park along the road by the sign that says not to park on the grass. We will head upstream towards the Ballardvale Dam, and meander lazily back. Vale Reservation is a gem!

The weather looks good. Dress appropriately for84˚F temps;remember sunscreen, and pack a snack & drink. Life vest / PFD is mandatory. Have a mask handy to use when not keeping 6 foot distance.

This program is to grow awareness of the Shawsheen River through the seasons and through its watershed. Members only (see hyperlinked membership form).

A boating map of the Shawsheen River is hyperlinked; we will put in at Access Point 18. Expected return time is noon, same location.

I will bring a waiver sheet for you to sign.

Optional après-boat opportunity: Oak & Iron Brewing  is 3 minutes by car from our launch site on Abbot Bridge Drive. Among several other tatsty brews, “Summer on the Shawsheen” is on tap!

Looking forward to see you tomorrow between 9:30 and 9:45AM to start paddling at 10AM!
